About

About Wise Home Life

Wise Home’s humble beginnings took place in 2006 when Mary Cory started a group study of the cook book/text book Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon, based on the teachings of Dr. Weston A. Price. Mary met with one other person, then another joined and then another, until we were overflowing the Terrachino’s coffee house in Ankeny, Iowa. After that we met in meeting halls, church buildings and libraries. We took the name NOAH which stood for Nourishing Organic Affectionate Homes until our subsequent evolution led us to change the name to Wise Home. We held workshops and demonstrations on topics covering the gamut of natural living, such as proper food preparation, fermentation, prepping, bodywork, herbalism, and anything having to do with food, farming, healing arts, and the whole spectrum of natural living. Now 2019, we mostly discuss the aforementioned topics in our online forums, with occasional meetings.

What We do

We are a Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF) based group so our discussion and suggestions are based on Dr. Price’s principles of traditional diets and include the use of eggs, milk and other dairy, meat, legumes, veggies, seeds, nuts, fruit, sat fats, organ meats and offal, and properly prepared grains. Raw milk is a hallmark of our group (for those that have no intolerances) and we see it for what it is, a superfood. We recognize some families have members that cannot eat from certain food groups, or need/choose a modified WAPF diet. We also adhere to the WAPF standards for sustainable farming and alternative healing arts.

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

The Weston A. Price Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charity founded in 1999 to disseminate the research of nutrition pioneer Dr. Weston Price, whose studies of isolated nonindustrialized peoples established the parameters of human health and determined the optimum characteristics of human diets. Dr. Price’s research demonstrated that humans achieve perfect physical form and perfect health generation after generation only when they consume nutrient-dense whole foods and the vital fat-soluble activators found exclusively in animal fats.

The Foundation is dedicated to restoring nutrient-dense foods to the human diet through education, research and activism. It supports a number of movements that contribute to this objective including accurate nutrition instruction, organic and biodynamic farming, pasture-feeding of livestock, community-supported farms, honest and informative labeling, prepared parenting and nurturing therapies. Specific goals include establishment of universal access to clean, certified raw milk and a ban on the use of soy formula for infants.
